Staff Accountant:
Summary: Under the direction of the CFO and as a member of the accounting team, The Staff Accountant will perform various functions in support of the organization needs, with a focus on Payroll Processing and Accounts Receivable, in accordance with GAAP, agency policies and procedures, state regulations and best practice guidelines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Professionally represents the Mission, Values and Vision of New Haven Youth & Family Services and acts as a role model within and outside of the agency.
Prepares vouchers, invoices, and coordinates data from service groups to ensure timely reporting and enable accurate billing to agencies and/or districts, many of which-have varied and complex requirements.
Process all remote deposits, post cash, apply payments received from a wide variety of accounts and manage collection efforts
Record direct deposit donations received, and monthly reconciliations.
Prepare monthly revenue accruals, AR reconciliations and transaction review for accuracy.
Coordinate with School, Residential, and Quality Assurance departments to ensure needed documentation and contracts are on file to support billing.
Reconcile donations received for annual events.
Coordinate with HR to ensure new employees are fully set up in payroll and time keeping systems.
Review time cards and shifts for accuracy, process manual and retropay checks as needed.
Calculation and tracking of employee garnishments enter staff mileage and phone reimbursements.
Process and transmit payroll and related reconciliations.
Complete and submit quarterly multiple worksite reporting.
Cross train with other Accountants for desk coverage as needed, update SOP’s, assist CFO and other tasks as assigned
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess working knowledge of accounting relating to Payroll, AR, and accounting
Must be proficient in MS Office software suite (Excel, Word, Access)
Must possess intermediate knowledge of financial systems - Great Plains or similar ERP
Must possess advanced knowledge of ADP (Workforce Now and Time & Attendance payroll systems)
Ability to communicate effectively and ability to multi-task/establish priorities
Ability to maintain organization in a changing environment, exhibiting initiative, flexibility and responsibility
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, customers outside agencies, etc.
