Direct Care Staff
Harvest Safe Haven (HSH) is a 6-bed Short-Term Residential Therapeutic Program for male residents ages 12-19 licensed by the Department of Social Services. HSH is nationally accredited through CARF International and Mental Health Certified through the Department of Health Care Services. HSH is located in Riverside, CA.

HSH is referred by Riverside County DPSS and San Bernardino County DCFS. Experience in working with Juvenile Delinquents is strongly required.

HSH is currently seeking to hire a knowledgeable and experienced professional with group home/STRTP experience to fill the position of Direct Care Staff.

Direct Care Responsibilities:

  • Provide basic care and supervision to youth in youth care to assure that health, nutritional, educational, social and recreational needs are met.
  • Assess the behavioral and emotional characteristics of referred youth and provide counseling as needed.
  • Perform crisis and non-crisis intervention activities as required.
  • Establish a positive, therapeutic relationship with youth in placement.
  • Plan activities in the home and community.
  • Assist youth in achieving his goals as determined by team.
  • Complete written documentation as required.
  • Communicate with Supervising Facility Manager and other staff as needed on progress, problems, etc. as directed.
  • Provide quality supervision, care and treatment for the youth.
  • Shop for household supplies. Cook and clean as needed.
  • Report emergencies to the Supervising Facility Manager or Shift Supervisor.
  • Be available on an on-call rotation to cover weekends and weekday nights.
  • Transport the youth to schools, activities, and appointments.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Direct Care Staff shall meet one of the following requirements prior to employment:

  • Have a Bachelor of Arts or Sciences Degree;
  • Have a valid Child Development Teaching Permit;
  • Have completed 12 semester units of Early Childhood Education, Adolescent Development, or Foster and Kinship Care Education and have at least 100 hours of experience working with youth;
  • Have a valid certificate as an Alcohol Counselor, Drug Counselor or Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and have at least 100 hours of experience working with youth;
  • Have a valid Vocational Training certificate, credential or documentation demonstrating that the individual is a trade journey person who instructs children in vocational skills and have at least 100 hours of experience working with youth; or
  • Have previously been employed as a staff or volunteer at a group home or short-term residential therapeutic center for at least one year.
  • Have relevant experience as determined by the department to meet any of the above requirements.

*Must pass live scan and background check (DOJ, FBI, Child Abuse).

*Must have a clean driving record.

*Bilingual (Spanish) is highly desirable.
