JOB SUMMARY:
The Substance Abuse Counselor (SAC) provides assessment, treatment planning, and case management services for patients served in the Psychiatry Dept's mental health treatment programs. The SAC develops substance abuse treatment services, including individual, family, crisis intervention, and group treatment, as well as provides training to the clinical team re substance abuse and co-occuring disorders issues. Additionally, the SAC interfaces with primary care physician, schools and agency partners, e.g., DSW, Probation, Juvenile Justice, etc. to assist patient and family with school and community resources. The SAC maintains a caseload of patients, according to department standards, and documents services in the required MIS format and within prescribed timelines.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
HS Diploma or GED or Equivalent
1 year of experience
Experience in treatment of substance abuse and addictions in mental health or substance abuse treatment program
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
2 years of experience
Alcohol & Drug Abuse Counselor
Experience in a child and adolescent treatment setting
