Full Job Description

To be considered for this position proof of Covid-19 vaccination and a booster is required. 100% remote until the COVID-19 emergency is over.

M-F 12:00 PM until 8:30 PM

100 percent employer paid medical, dental and vision. 401K and Aflac. Begin accruing vacation time from date of hire. Must be registered or certified drug and alcohol counselor. $21.00 to $25.00 per hour DOE.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & PRIOR EXPERIENCE:

Prefer degree in the behavioral sciences from an institution of higher learning and at least 2 years’ experience in a community-based drug/alcohol treatment setting serving culturally/linguistically diverse populations of economically disadvantaged and homeless substance users. Will consider Certified Counselor, Intern, or individual who is compliant with the State of California, Counselor Certification Regulation (CCR), Title 9, Chapter 9, commencing with Section 13000. If not enrolled into a drug and alcohol counseling school program enrollment will be required within the first 12 months of employment. Must possess a valid California Driver’s License or Identification Card. Must pass an extensive background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and educational verifications.

REQUIRED SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:

Must have knowledge and experience in individual and group counseling and supportive recovery services for persons with substance abuse. Knowledge of HIV/AID, homelessness, correctional populations and substance abuse related issues are required. Must possess basic knowledge, skills and abilities in office automation equipment and software including Electronic Health Records (Exym experience preferred), Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet applications. Prefer a candidate familiar with current Drug Medi-Cal requirements.

SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIP:

Work under the direct supervision of the Clinical Director.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel and talk or hear. Frequently required to reach with hands and arms and prolonged use of computer and other office equipment. Occasionally required to climb and descend staircase, stand and walk. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function required of this position.

PERSONAL QUALITIES:

Must have a high degree of sensitivity to the agency’s target populations, including substance abusers/users, correctional populations, persons with HIV/AIDS, LGBT community, the homeless, indigent and those dually-diagnosed.

DUTIES:

With participant input; create individual Client-Centered Treatment Plans & Discharge and Transition Plans. Assure client linkage to needed services. Perform Individual, Case Management and Group Counseling; and performing Crisis Counseling as necessary. Must continuously maintain compliance with your certifying organizations Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics to ensure your ethical and legal requirements are adhered to at all times. Participate in weekly clinical supervision sessions. Maintain electronic charts to ensure compliance with contractual guidelines and agency policy. Maintain relationships with community-based social services agencies and other service providers, through regular contacts and participating in agency networks and consortium as to maintain linkages to services. Adhere to all policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook, personnel files and internal communications. Perform all other duties as assigned by direct supervisor.
