Position Summary:

Major Position Responsibilities:

• Maintains a safe, clean working environment, including unit-based safety and infection control requirements.
• Oversight of day to day operations
• Oversight of the tech-check-tech program and ensure compliance with related policies, procedures, pharmacy law and regulations
• Oversight regarding pharmacy automation, technology and information systems, drug dispensing and delivery, narcotic control, pharmaceutical waste, procurement, & drug shortage processes and ensure compliance with related policies, procedures, pharmacy law and regulations
• Drug purchasing and 340B Coordinator backup for Outpatient Infusion and Inpatient Pharmacy.
• Promotes and maintains good relationships with personnel including other departments, medical staff, patients, and public.
• Coordinates and communicates with Director of Pharmacy and Pharmacy Operations Manager about projects, performance improvement, and staffing to promote quality of service.
• Supervises Pharmacy Technician staff, which includes hiring, training, coaching/disciplining and annual evaluations. Identify and deal with personnel issues in a proactive and timely manner, with appropriate follow-up to improve performance.
• Informs Director of Pharmacy and Pharmacy Operations Manager of perpetual or unresolved problems.
• Resolves shift-to-shift issues.
• Schedules the pharmacy technician staff.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Minimum two (2) years hospital pharmacy technician experience, required.
• Supervisor experience, preferred.
• Computer applications competency including Word and Excel, required.
• Minimum of one (1) year sterile compounding experience, required.
• Working knowledge of USP 795, USP 797 and USP 800, required.
• Working knowledge of Automated Dispensing Cabinets, automated inventory management system, preferred.
• Working knowledge of 340B, preferred.

Education:

• Two years college or equivalent training, preferred.

Licenses:

• Current California Pharmacy Technician license, required.

Certification:

• Current CPhT, Certified Pharmacy Technician through the PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) certificate, required.
• NPTA Sterile Compounding Certificate in 797 or equivalent, required upon hire or obtained with 6 months.

  Salary/Hourly wage range for this position is posted. Actual pay will be determined based on verified experience as well as internal equity.
