Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented surgery scheduler/medical assistant floater to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in coordinating surgical procedures, ensuring that all necessary information is accurately recorded and communicated between patients, surgeons, and medical staff. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology and administrative support within a clinical setting. The potential candidate must be willing to learn a new skill set and cross-train and float to other positions. Candidate will step in when shorthanded. Our current management will be supporting you and guiding you along the way.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule surgical procedures by coordinating with surgeons, patients, and hospital staff.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and ensure all necessary documentation is completed prior to surgery.
  • Communicate effectively with patients regarding pre-operative instructions and post-operative care.
  • Verify insurance information and obtain necessary authorizations for surgical procedures, office visits and radiology.
  • Monitor and manage the surgery schedule to optimize operating room utilization.
  • Checking patients in and out.
  • Collect copays and/or balances.
  • Knowledge of sterile technique.
  • Escorts patients to the exam room.
  • Collects and handles lab specimens as directed, according to protocol.
  • Assists physician with examinations and procedures and carries out orders as directed.
  • Be at work and be on time.
  • Follow company policies, procedures, and directives.
  • Interact in a positive and conductive manner.
  • Prioritize and multitask.
  • Will sometimes be required to travel to Yorba Linda office.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in medical administrative support or surgery scheduling preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, coding practices, and physiology.
  • Familiarity with inpatient care processes and hospital medicine practices.
  • Ability to understand vital signs and basic geriatric care principles is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems or similar software is advantageous.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
