Therapist - Drug and Alcohol Counseling

Job Description

We at Solution Based Therapeutics are looking for a therapist for a drug and alcohol treatment facility in the vicinity of Costa Mesa. This position entails being responsible both for providing 1 on 1 therapy to clients in person, and the occasional group session as well. As a therapist, you'll be responsible for guiding any and all clients through the treatment experience and on the way to recovery.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Document all activity in Kipu on the day the activity took place.
  • Communicate critical information to the treatment team.
  • Conduct individual therapy sessions 1-2 times per week with each client and complete progress notes.
  • Facilitate group therapy with clients as needed.
  • Assist family therapist with discharge planning and discharge summary.
  • Begin and end groups and sessions on time.
  • Serve as a role model to treatment staff, clients, employees, and guests through a positive, caring, and professional attitude.
  • Maintain the confidential nature of clients and related activities.
  • Complete tasks in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Attend designated staff and in-service meetings.
  • Any additional duties as assigned by the management team.

Basic Education and Experience Required:

  • Minimum of a Master’s Degree from an accredited or state approved graduate school in Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling, Psychology or Social Work.
  • The Primary Therapist will be licensed or license eligible as an MFT, Clinical Psychologist or Social Worker.
  • Minimum of 1-5 years of related field experience preferred.

  • Ability to set priorities and handle multiple assignments.
  • Ability to handle and maintain confidential client information.
  • Ability to maintain clear boundaries with clients and staff.

  • Must be knowledgeable of behavioral health industry practices and procedures, and/or terminology, laws, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Must be able to communicate with people from all educational and cultural backgrounds.
  • Must have strong written communication skills.
  • Must cope constructively with stressful situations.
  • Must demonstrate tact, initiative, resourcefulness, professional manner, enthusiasm, and non-judgmental attitude.
  • Documents clearly and efficiently.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract, Temporary

Pay: $28.00 - $40.00 per hour

  • Marriage & Family Therapists & Counselors: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Addiction counseling: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Clinical Social Workers: 1 year (Preferred)
